The goal of Lesson 6 is to show you that, contrary to common assumptions, the Gospels are very literary in nature. The foregoing material has opened doors and windows into that viewpoint. To clinch the point, read chapter 7 (pages 131-138) in How to Read the Bible as Literature.
Optional Learning by Doing Exercise
The optimal way to apply what you have learned in this lesson is to read one of the four Gospels at a single sitting. It will take about an hour. If that is more time than you can afford, randomly open to a pair of facing pages in one of the Gospels and see how the generalizations made about the Gospels in this lesson inform your assimilation of the two pages.
